About HPWT Club
Established in February 1991, the High Peak Woodturners' club has met regularly since then on the first Friday of each month at 7.30 pm at the Civic Hall, Hazel Grove, SK7 4DF which is conveniently placed on the A6 (see Map). Car parking is available behind the hall and also at the nearby train station.
The meetings usually take the form of demonstrations of woodturning techniques by both professional turners and local members.
‘Hands-On’ evenings are popular, especially for novice turners, who can benefit from the experience of more expert members.
Occasionally an auction or bring-and-buy sale of woodworking tools and equipment is held.
A competition with a set theme is held each month, and during a coffee-break members are invited to judge the entries.
Points are awarded to first, second and third places, and a club shield is presented to the overall winner for the year.

Mission
The High Peak Woodturning club aims to promote interest in, and develop skills for, the craft of Woodturning. We have "hands on" evenings throughout the year where newcomers to woodturning, or regular members, can get tuition from our experienced members. and practice aspects of wood turning they find challenging.
Our regular meetings includes demonstrations by professional turners and by our expert members. These are always inspiring events.
Inspiration
Our Advanced Turners competition provides inspiration for other club members to try new designs and techniques. Each month the competition has a theme which the turners can interpret and come up with a variety of designs. The theme in the image to the right was to turn a square edged bowl.
